This website has been created following completion of a project on inclusive education in Ukraine. The project, entitled ‘Inclusive Education in Ukraine: exploring crisis possibilities, co-developing practice and supporting teachers’, was funded by Research England and supported by Universities UK International (UUKi) in 2023. One of the projects outputs was the creation of a module that could be delivered at Nizhyn Mykola Gogol State University and publicly available on this website as an online course
The project focused on upskilling/reskilling pre-service teachers and teachers in Ukraine to consider what is possible in terms of inclusive education during the current crisis and to support the development of inclusive education for children with Special Educational Needs. The research considered changes in Ukraine practice following the school reform in 2018 that included introducing inclusion, and a new child-centred approach to learning.
Using observations in practice, the objectives included:
- Development of an open-access website that will house the content of a module on inclusive education, providing culturally situated best practices for use at Nizhyn Mykola Gogol State University (NMGSU) and other Ukraine universities. This is the website that was created to meet this project output.
- Training inclusivity champions to upskill/reskills Ukraine and UK participants in implementing inclusive education. This project output was completed in August 2023 at the University of Wolverhampton, UK with 10 Ukraine and 10 UK education and academic attendees.

In total, 11 researchers from Nizhyn Mykola Gogol State University (NMGSU) in Ukraine, University of Wolverhampton (UoW) in England, and the Centre for Research in Early Childhood (CREC) in England were members of the research team.
